Steven Gerrard is believed to be doubtful for Liverpool’s clash with Manchester United.
Gerrard, the Liverpool captain, is believed to have suffered a recurrence of his groin injury during the final training session for Sunday’s game, and was involved in lengthy discussions with the medical staff.
Sky Sports News has reported that Gerrard, who made his return to action in the 3-1 defeat to West Ham last week, has little chance of being named in the starting line-up and could even miss out on a place among the substitutes.
However, Andy Carroll is believed to have been named in the squad and looks likely to make his debut following his January transfer.
