Mario Balotelli will not be heading to Napoli after the club ruled out making a bid for the Manchester City striker.

Balotelli has been linked with a return to Italy following revelations that he does not enjoy living Manchester, but Napoli owner Aurelio de Laurentiis has no interest in the controversial forward, despite the possible exit of Argentina international Ezequial Lavezzi.

“Absolutely not,” De Laurentiis told Sky Sport Italia when asked if Napoli were interested in Balotelli. “He is funny, but it is too disruptive and I prefer that he applies his talents elsewhere.”

De Laurentiis revealed Napoli would be making a bid for Villareal striker Giuseppi Rossi, although he is aware the club faces serious competition from the likes of Barcelona or Real Madrid.

“I understand the ambition of a young man to want to go to Barcelona or Real Madrid, it’s normal,” he said. “He [Rossi] didn’t say no to me, though, but this was around four weeks ago. I will try to buy him this season, but I’m ready to leave him in Spain.”

Marek Hamsik has denied talk of an impending move to AC Milan and expressed his desire to stay at Napoli.

After returning to the club for pre-season training, the sought-after midfielder told of his love for the Naples-based club and confirmed he expects to stay at Napoli.

“I never thought about leaving Napoli,” he told La Gazzetta dello Sport.“Over the last two months I was at home in Slovakia and didn’t even have the internet at my disposal. I stayed away from everything.

“I decided to take a break by isolating myself. I only thought about my partner Martina and my son Christian. Milan? I never let the reality of Napoli out of my sights. I’m focused on Napoli and the new season ahead. I don’t want to think about my long-term future.

“The future doesn’t interest me right now, it wouldn’t be right with regards to President Aurelio De Laurentiis who believed in me from the start.

“My heart just can’t wait to hear the Champions League anthem at the Stadio San Paolo. I love Napoli, I love the Neapolitans, I love the city. I never thought about leaving.”

Napoli president Antonio De Laurentiis has issued a stern warning to Uruguay amid suggestions they could take a risk on the fitness of Edinson Cavani.

Cavani sustained a knee injury during the group stages of the Copa America, but it is reported Uruguay are considering returning him to the first-team fold for this Sunday’s final against Paraguay.

The 24-year-old striker was a key player for Napoli last season, scoring 33 goals in all competition, and hence De Laurentiis is wary of Cavani being ruled out for the start of the new Serie A season.

“I’ll kill them if they’ve broken my Edinson,” De Laurentiis said. “I don’t really care about international competitions, but I just ask Uruguay to take good care of him.

“If he’s not fit then he shouldn’t play. Uruguay better be careful otherwise I will bring a never ending case against them.”

Napoli star Marek Hamsik has revealed he is content to stay at the club despite expressing an interest in joining AC Milan earlier this summer.

Hamsik, 23, has attracted the attention of a number of top European clubs after an impressive campaign with Napoli, but any move appears unlikely after president Aurelio De Laurentiis placed a €100 million price-tag on the Slovakia international.

Hamsik has now reassured fans that he will not push for an exit. “I am happy to remain,” he said. “I am very happy at Napoli.”

De Laurentiis added: “If someone wants to go, you don’t keep them. Those who want to stay with us will stay. Those who don’t will go.”

Hamsik, who joined Napoli from Brescia in 2007, scored 11 goals in 37 league appearances to help the club finish third in Serie A last season. He is under contract for another four years.

Napoli coach Walter Mazzarri is confident Marek Hamsik will be plying his trade at the club next season.

Hamsik’s future has been the subject of conjecture this summer, amid reports several sides are monitoring his situation after a fine 2010-11 campaign.

AC Milan have been mooted as potential suitors while Arsenal have also been mentioned with rumours suggesting he could be targeted as a replacement for Barcelona target Cesc Fabregas.

An agreement seems unlikely, though, after Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis recently placed an eye-watering €100million price tag on the 23-year-old.

And on Monday, Mazzarri told Gazzetta dello Sport: “Marek is happy to work with me and he is very motivated. He is happy to remain here.

“I have spoken to him and from what I know, in the end he will not leave.”

Hamsik joined Napoli from Brescia in 2007 and is under contract with the Serie A outfit for another four years.

He scored 11 goals in 37 league appearances to help the Naples outfit finish third last season and qualify for the Champions League.
